Form with the main release metadata
After uploading the cover, you will need to fill out a short form with the general release information.
First, you need to specify the Primary artist(s). To do this, select the artist from the list below, where your verified artists are displayed. If the list is empty and you have not previously claimed rights to any artist, go to the “Artists/Authors” section and submit a request to verify your rights to the artist.
You will be able to select the artist when creating a release only after your request has been approved by the moderators.
(Click the “Add Artist” field and add the required artist(s).)
Then select the appropriate genre for release from the list provided in the Genre section (up to 2 genres).
Next, two fields with release identifiers are displayed: UPC and GRID.
These fields are optional, and you can leave them empty.
A UPC code will be assigned to the release automatically.
The following fields contain metadata that will be displayed on music platforms after the release is published. If you are publishing the release under your own name and not on behalf of a specific record label, you can enter your artist (or band) name in the P-line and C-line sections below, or leave Yoola as the default.
If your release was created with the participation of a record label, or if there are other rights holders who should be credited when the release is published on platforms, enter the name of that company or the recording owner.
There are also two fields indicating the year the composition was created and the year the composition is released on platforms.
Enter the appropriate year in the specified fields.
Next, select the country and the release creation date from the provided list.
The following step is choosing the distribution territories for the release.
If you want to publish the release worldwide, leave Publish everywhere selected in the Countries field.
If you want the release to be available only in specific countries, choose Allow in the Action field on the left, and in the Countries field on the right select the countries where the release will be available.
If you want to restrict access to your release in certain countries, select the Block action and mark the countries where the release should not be published.
Next, you will need to choose the platforms where the release will be published, as well as its release date.
Select the release date using one of the options below:
ASAP — the release will be sent to the platforms as soon as possible. Publication usually takes 3 to 7 business days.
Schedule date. If you want to specify an exact release date, and it is at least one week from now, select Schedule date, then click the calendar icon and choose the appropriate date.
In the Music Platforms section, all available distribution platforms are selected by default.
You can uncheck the platforms where you do not want to publish the release.
In this section, the YouTube Content ID feature is disabled by default. If you want to add your track to this system, check the box next to this option.
Distribution to TikTok is also disabled by default. To distribute the track on TikTok, you will need to select a clip from the track up to 1 minute long in the next step of filling out the track form.
After selecting the required distribution platforms and deciding whether to enable the Content ID feature, click Continue to proceed to the next step.
Filling in the Track Metadata Form.
As you have already specified the title of your single when creating the release, at this stage, you can edit the release title if necessary.
Subtitle* — Subtitle: release version, for example — Deluxe, Limited, Remastered, Acoustic, Live, etc.
*This field is optional and only needs to be filled in if necessary.
The next step is specifying the Artists — the artist name(s) of the track.
Please select the main artist of the track from the list of authors/artists for whom you have previously claimed rights in your personal account.
You can select multiple primary artists if necessary.
When selecting multiple primary artists, you can specify the revenue percentage for each of them. In this case, the revenue from the track will be divided between these artists in the reports.
Featured artists. If the track contains a feat., you can add the guest artist(s).
Genre — here you have to specify the track genre.
The genres here will be the same as those selected in the previous step for the general release description.
In Lyrics section you need to Indicate whether the track contains lyrics. Select the language of the lyrics and add the song text.
If the song contains explicit language, please indicate this by checking the “Explicit Lyrics” box.
If the composition contains music only and no lyrics, mark the track as Instrumental in this section.
Adding TikTok Snippet
To add the release to TikTok, click the + icon next to the TikTok Snippet field.
You can select the desired segment or several segments of the track for TikTok.
The maximum snippet duration is 60 seconds.
If the track duration is less than 60 seconds, you can send the entire track or select a segment of at least 15 seconds.
Next step is Songwriters. To add the authors of the music and lyrics click the + icon to add the songwriter(s) of the track. You will be presented with a list of songwriters already added to your profile.
If you need to add a new songwriter, click “Add songwriter”, which will redirect you to the Add new artist/songwriter section.
Enter the songwriter’s name and save your choice according to the example.
Then select the songwriter’s role:
L — Lyrics author
C — Composer (music author)
L&C — Both composer and lyrics author
If the track has one author, select that author from the list, assign the L&C role, and leave 100%.
If the track has two or more authors, you must indicate the role of each author and their percentage of rights to the track.
Example 1
The track was written by two authors: one created the music, the other wrote the lyrics.
In this case:
Author 1 (composer — C) should receive 50% in the rights percentage field
Author 2 (lyrics author — L) should receive 50%
You also have the option to claim royalties (author royalties) for the composition.
This can be done by clicking the Claim royalties button next to the author’s name. If you enable this function, you will receive royalties on behalf of the specified authors.
Next, you will need to enter additional information for release distribution.
ISRC Code* (International Standard Recording Code) — an identifier that will be automatically assigned to your track when it is added to the system.
Leave this field empty if your track has not previously been published on platforms.
*This field is optional. You do not need to enter anything if you are uploading a completely new track and have not previously received an ISRC code from other music distribution systems.
Release Label — by default, Yoola is mentioned as the distribution label.
You can specify the actual label for your release by entering the label name in the corresponding field.
You can fill in the Producer field if applicable. If the release does not have a producer that should be included in the metadata on platforms, leave this field empty.
Finally, specify the track creation date and country in the corresponding fields.
Click Save.
You will then be redirected to the release editing and saving page, where you can review all the information and submit the release for review by Yoola managers.
Please wait for the moderators to review the release within 2–3 business days.
If you have questions about your release before it is approved, please contact technical support on the website.
If your release was not approved, you will receive a notification in your account with the reason for rejection of the publication request.
